UK based Wilde at Art are one of the few remaining craft workshops still employing traditional gilding techniques. Each piece undergoes a painstaking process whereby it is cut and formed from wood onto which an ultra-smooth surface is built up using gesso and a ceramic-based paint called boll. To give each piece it's unique and distinctive character, the process is completed by hand-gilding, burnishing, tarnishing, antiquing, distressing and, finally, lacquering with a traditional mixture of oils and waxes. Further finishing also includes the hand-etching of dials, collaging and verre-eglomise gilding.

The result of all this effort is a unique and magnificient time-piece that will give pleasure and enjoyment for many years to come.
