The sourcing of precious and semi-precious stones, precious metals etc. has been the subject of much controversy. Brought to the fore by the film “Blood Diamond”, the unfortunate truth is that precious materials are often sold by countries where the proceeds of their sale are used by war-lords to fund brutal wars or terrorism by factions opposing governments or seeking to oppress innocent people. But it is not just precious stones and metals; any material that can be sold by militant factions or terrorists to fund arms, will be sold. Labour, including children, will be exploited. The manufacture of nickel, used in the production of cheap, copied jewellery and fittings, is destroying the lives of thousands, poisoning children and causing wholescale pollution of the world with acid-rain. Would your conscience and integrity allow you to buy these products? Ours won’t.

KDV Designs Limited will not:

• knowingly offer for sale any item that we believe has been sourced or uses materials where the proceeds may have been used for arms, oppression, torture, terrorism or any other funding of cruelty or inhumanity.
• sell or promote items where we have reason to believe that the materials, labour or transportation have been obtained as a result of involvement in atrocities, exploitation, degradation or child-labour or where the production of the item or its materials has resulted in human suffering or poverty.
• sell or promote items where we believe the materials may have been obtained at the expense of basic human rights or has resulted in whole-scale pollution of the environment in developing countries.
• sell or promote any item which we have reasonable cause to believe infringes the copyright of the original designer.

KDV Designs Limited will:

• seek assurances from all suppliers and designers that their products and materials conform to our ethical policy as stated.
• use, as our Financial Bank, only an organisation or organisations who conform to a strict ethical policy on the use and investment of funds.
• as far as possible, use only recyclable and/or bio-degradable materials for all postage and packaging.
• each year, donate a percentage of our profits to a registered charity of our choice dedicated to the alleviation of human suffering.
